Downtown Bethesda has quickly become a destination area that is known for its great restaurants, boutique shopping, live theatre, movie theatres, easy metro access and great housing options.  As recently as the early 1990s, the very popular block on Woodmont (between Elm and Bethesda) was truly still a sleepy corridor.  And nearby, land that now holds popular meeting spots, was still parking lots and vacant spaces.  There were very few people living in the blocks between Arlington and Woodmont and Edgemoor and Hampden.  Montgomery Lane was a relatively sleepy street that was lined with small, single family homes most of which were being used by doctors or lawyers for office space.

Today, with the addition of  "Villages of Bethesda" (the townhomes at Edgemoor and Arlington), "The City Homes of Edgemoor" (the townhomes on Montgomery Lane), "The Edgemoor at Arlington" (the 4 level condo on Arlington) and "The Edgemoor" (the high rise condo at the corner of Montgomery and Woodmont), we have added a true “in town” community.  The fortunate urban dwellers who live in downtown Bethesda really have a great life.  They can literally walk to everything.  There are groceries, libraries, hardware stores, doctors, lawyers and dentists – as well as the conveniences listed above.  The area continues to grow and thrive and this web site will continue to keep up with the future growth of the area by adding proposed developments and “discussing” local events in the blog section.  We hope we can not only educate readers about the area, but also communicate the very special features of downtown Bethesda living.
