Bethesda + Chevy Chase Real Estate 

Although the three words that make up these two neighborhoods/mailing addresses often are combined into a one word phrase, Bethesda (which is made up of 3 zip codes) and Chevy Chase (which is located within one zip code) oftentimes maintain their own identities.

Chevy Chase extends from a like-named neighborhood in D.C….so that there is a Chevy Chase, DC and a Chevy Chase, Maryland. If you didn’t know the location of the line that divides these two, you wouldn’t know that you have crossed it. Much of Chevy Chase is made up of tree lined streets and traditional colonial homes, some of which date back to the late 1800s.  There are a couple of small, neighborhood shopping centers…and the Friendship Heights area of Chevy Chase, which contains the “Rodeo Drive of the East” with high end stores and increasingly upscale high rise development.

Where Chevy Chase leaves off, Bethesda takes over. The shopping and residential areas of Bethesda…which are more diverse and larger in square miles…are literally an extension of Chevy Chase. In parts of Bethesda, you might feel that you are still in Chevy Chase…and in other parts, you know that you have reached neighborhoods that didn’t exist when Chevy Chase was developed.

Many transplants to the DC Metropolitan area end up using the one word phase…Bethesda-Chevy Chase…and look at both areas equally when considering housing and schools. Both offer a choice of housing options, great Montgomery County public schools, access to public transportation and lots of shopping and recreation choices.
