Chevy Chase Real Estate - Brief History
Chevy Chase Maryland was developed in the 1920s as a residential streetcar suburb of Washington, D.C., and features a wide variety of early and mid-century homes. The name "Chevy Chase" can be traced back to a border raid, or "chace" in 14th century Northumberland, England, at the Cheviot Hills. Maryland developers adopted the name for historic reasons.

Chevy Chase Real Estate Zip Code, just north of Chevy Chase Circle, includes some of the most prestigious properties in the Washington suburbs. Here, prices can occasionally reach almost $5M, and there are many homes in the $2-$3M bracket. As you travel further north into the zip code, houses tend to get slightly smaller, and, in some neighborhoods, the predominant style is a fairly modest 1950s colonial or rambler, where prices are more likely to be around $600K.
