Located at the edge of downtown Bethesda, the community of Edgemoor is perhaps one of the most desirable residential areas in Montgomery County.  The reasons for the popularity are many.  The first, at least as the area has evolved, is its fabulous location.  Everyone who lives in Edgemoor is within walking distance of downtown Bethesda...with all its wonderful restaurants and shops...and also to the Bethesda Metro station.  It's not unusual in the early mornings or late afternoons to see many people making the trek from their homes to the metro station.

Another "pull" in the Edgemoor neighborhood is its very popular swimand tennis club.  Limited to residents of the community, the clubprovides both a core and a unifying destination.  Parents and childrenalike appreciate the many opportunities that it affords for recreationand for neighborhood gatherings.  It is part of what allows Edgemoor tofeel like a small town.

Edgemoor also offers a variety of housing opportunities...although this variety is certainly waning as the popularity of Bethesda is on the rise.  It used to be that Edgemoor catered to both government workers and to wealthy businessmen; but the government workers have lost most of their options as even the smaller lots (8000 sq ft and less) are bringing seven figure prices as "tear downs."  Today, most people buying in Edgemoor need to have a minimum of $1.5M to spend...and that would buy a small colonial that needs renovation.  Properties of up to $10 million have sold over the past few years and there is still a lot of demand in this neighborhood.
