More About Burleith Bethesda Neighborhood
The area now known as Hillmead was once a large farm. Construction of private homes began in the late 1920s, but by the middle of 1930, there were only 4 families living in the area. By 1954, the number of residents was large enough to qualify for home postal delivery. Today, some of these original homes still exist, while some have been “deconstructed” and replaced with new houses. Prices range from the $600s to up to almost $2M.
