Our Questions And Answers For The Washington Post's "Where We Live Woodhaven"

When The Post Calls, we tend to answer, when we can!  Gretchen Koitz tackled this last Neighborhood Profile for the Post :-)

Many buyers are initially attracted by the charming Tudor homes that were built in the late 1930s and early 1940s and are "quintessential Woodhaven". Because of generous lot sizes, the neighborhood has also attracted many "infill" properties over the past 12-15 years. In this popular neighborhood, you'll often find a lot of neighbors out walking along the tree-lined streets.
  • What do you think attracts buyers to Woodhaven? What sets it apart Woodhaven apart from other neighborhoods in Bethesda?
Woodhaven is charming, tree-lined, quiet, "intown Bethesda" neighborhood. It's less than 3 miles away from Downtown Bethesda; (with access to the Metro), Westfield Montgomery Mall, many parks and bike paths, and several commuter routes.
  • What is the lowest priced house and highest priced house to sell over the past year? (Could you describe the two houses ie, number of beds and baths?)
Twelve houses have sold over the past year. The least expensive was one of the original Tudors on Woodhaven Blvd. (built in 1938), with four bedrooms and two and a half baths. It had a two-car garage and many of the original details. Listed in the high $800ks, it had several offers and sold at about $70k over the asking price. The most expensive was a home that was constructed on Kirby in 2011. An arts and craft style home, it had five bedrooms, four and a half baths, two-car garage, and an eat-in kitchen with high end appliances. This house sold for $1.85m.
  • How many houses are on the market right now and give the lowest and highest priced ones with description?
In this busy market, there are currently no homes available in Woodhaven. If one were to come on the market, it would surely generate multiple offers and would go under contract within the first week.
  • Could you tell me what streets make up the official boundaries of Woodhaven? I wanted to get this from a realtor's perspective since Google is a little hazy on the neighborhood boundaries.
Woodhaven Blvd to the north, Wilson Lane to the South, Bradley Blvd to the east, Springer Rd to the west
